Storybook Inkspiration Retreat

Three days where the only thing you have to do is write.

No laundry. No one asking what's for dinner. No opening your laptop and closing it again 40 minutes later because someone needed something. Just you, other writers who take this as seriously as you do, and enough uninterrupted hours to actually finish something.

Why retreats work

You already know how to write. That's not what's missing.

What's missing is a stretch of time long enough for your brain to get past the surface. Writing takes about 45 minutes of uninterrupted attention before anything good happens, and most of us never get 45 uninterrupted minutes.

Give a writer 3 days and they'll do more than they did in the previous 3 months. I've watched it happen repeatedly.

Who comes

  • Writers with a project and no time to work on it
  • Women who've been carrying a book idea for years
  • Authors who need momentum more than they need more information
  • Anyone who does better with other people in the room

You don't need to be published. You don't need to be good yet. You need a project and 3 days.

What you leave with

  • Actual pages. Not notes about pages. Pages.
  • Clarity on your project, including whether it's the right project
  • Other writers who know what you're working on and will ask about it in 6 months
  • A next step that isn't vague

FAQ

Do I need to be published?

No. Come with a project and a willingness to work.

What if I've never been to a retreat?

Most attendees haven't. It's less intimidating than it sounds and considerably more productive.

What should I bring?

Your project, your laptop or notebook, and low expectations of yourself. The last one matters more than people think.

Can I come alone?

Most people do. You'll know everyone by dinner the first night.

Spots are limited by the size of the room, not by a countdown timer.

Small groups are the point. When it's full, it's full.
