FAQ

Questions I get a lot.

Working with Terrie

What does author coaching include?

Two live Zoom sessions a month working on your actual manuscript, feedback that names the specific problem rather than gesturing at it, publishing guidance, and support between sessions. It's $297 a month, month to month, so you stay as long as it's useful.

Do I need a finished manuscript to start coaching?

No. Plenty of writers come with 3 chapters, an idea, or a manuscript they've abandoned twice. If it isn't ready, I'll tell you what would get it there.

When does the Path to Publishing teen class start?

As soon as 3 students are enrolled. I'm aiming for October. Joining the interest list means you'll hear the moment it's confirmed.

What ages is the teen class for?

Roughly 13 to 18. If your writer is younger and serious about it, ask me and we'll talk about fit.

What happens on a discovery call?

You tell me about your project and where you're stuck. I tell you what I honestly think the next step is. It's 30 minutes, free, and there's no pitch waiting at the end.

Publishing with Hypurpley

What does Hypurpley publish?

Children's picture books, chapter books, family devotionals, Bible studies, and discipleship resources. Work that's biblically sound and genuinely well-crafted, which are 2 separate requirements.

Who owns the rights to my book?

You do. Get that in writing from anyone you work with, not just me.

How much does publishing cost?

It varies by length, format, illustration needs, and how much editorial work the manuscript requires. You get a written, itemized quote after I've read your manuscript, so you know what you're paying for before committing.

Is this traditional publishing, hybrid, or self-publishing?

Closest to hybrid. You invest in your book and keep your rights. I'm not paying an advance and I won't pretend to have a traditional house's distribution.

Will you publish anything if I pay for it?

No. If a manuscript isn't ready, I'll tell you what it needs first. That's the point of the model.

How long does publishing take?

It depends on the manuscript's condition and the format. You'll get a realistic timeline in your plan, and realistic means it accounts for the revision round nobody plans for.

Books and resources

Do you offer bulk pricing for churches, co-ops, or classrooms?

Yes, on most titles including the Discipleship Decks. Send me what you need and for how many.

Can I use your books as a read-aloud in my classroom or co-op?

Yes, and please do. If you want to do something broader, like a video reading or a public performance, just ask first.

Are the free downloads really free?

Yes. You give me an email address, I send the resource, and you can leave the list any time. No trial, no upsell attached.

Which book should I start with?

Depends on your kids. Up, Down, and All Around if you want the discipleship framework. The picture books for littles. Drandar for a middle grade reader who wants adventure. The book list download will help you sort it.

Do the Discipleship Decks work for small groups?

Yes, as-is. Youth groups, women's groups, and family ministries use them without any adaptation.

Podcasts and speaking

What's the difference between your 2 podcasts?

Sparking Everyday Discipleship is about raising kids who love Jesus, with books, resources, and encouragement. Mixed Needs Mama is for parents raising neurotypical and neurodivergent kids in the same home. Different job, different show.

Can I be a guest on your podcast?

Possibly. Tell me what you'd want to talk about and which show it fits.

What do you speak on?

Family discipleship, mixed needs parenting, writing for children, and publishing. Formats include keynotes, workshops, retreat teaching, and virtual sessions.

How do I book you for an event?

Send the date, audience, format, and what you want people to walk away with. I'll tell you honestly whether I'm a fit.
