The Reader Is the Hero
You want to raise kids who genuinely love Jesus, not kids who can recite the right answers and roll their eyes on the drive home. You want your home to feel like a place where hard questions are welcome. Maybe you also have a story you want to write, something you've been carrying around for years that you're pretty sure a kid somewhere needs to read.
And you're tired. Not in a way that a bubble bath fixes, but in the way that comes from carrying something important for a long time without much backup.
I know that particular tired.
Terrie's Story
I've been a classroom teacher, a missionary in Taiwan, a homeschool mom, and a writer. My family has spent years figuring out how to raise kids whose brains work in genuinely different ways, where the strategy that calms one child sets off another. There were seasons where I felt like I was failing all of them at once.
What kept me going was the conviction that discipleship isn't a curriculum. It's what happens in the car, at the table, and in the 5 minutes before bed when your kid finally asks the real question. That belief eventually turned into books, then a podcast, then a second podcast, then a small publishing company.
17 books later, I'm still writing for the same person. Her.
Why I Do It This Way
There's plenty of parenting advice out there that makes you feel worse. There are plenty of Christian kids' books that talk down to children or hand them a moral so tidy it insults them. I refuse to make either one.
So here's how I work:
Kids get real books. Stories with actual stakes, characters who mess up, and questions that don't resolve neatly. Children can handle more than we give them credit for.
Parents get honesty. I'm not going to pretend my house runs smoothly or that I have a system that works every time. What I have is 30 years of trying things, and a pretty good sense of what actually helps.
Writers get the truth about publishing. Including the parts nobody tells you. I've been through it 17 times and I'd rather save you the detours.
Nobody gets shamed. Not the mom who missed devotions for 3 weeks, not the writer whose manuscript has been sitting untouched since 2021.

I do 2 things, and they're more connected than they look.
Under my own name, I write books and host podcasts for families who want to disciple their kids well, including families like mine where some kids are neurodivergent and the usual advice doesn't fit.
