Author Coaching

The manuscript isn't the problem. Being alone with it is.

Twice a month, we get on Zoom and work on your book. That's the whole model. No course to fall behind on, no modules to complete, just a person who's published 17 books helping you finish yours.

Who this is for

This is for you if:

  • You have a project you keep starting and stopping
  • You're not sure whether your manuscript is ready and nobody will tell you straight
  • You've read the craft books and still can't see what's wrong with your own pages
  • You want to write for kids and want it to be genuinely good, not just done
  • You need someone expecting you twice a month

This isn't for you if:

  • You want someone to write it for you
  • You want unqualified encouragement rather than real feedback
  • You're looking for a guaranteed traditional publishing deal, which nobody can honestly offer
  • You don't have time to write between sessions, in which case let's talk in a different season

What we actually do in a session

It depends on where you are, but usually one of these.

  1. 1. Working the pages.

You send me what you've written. We go through what's working, what isn't, and why.

  2. 2. Getting unstuck.

You know something's wrong and can't name it. That's usually a 20-minute conversation.

  3. 3. Structure.

Whether the book is built right underneath the writing.

  4. 4. Publishing strategy.

Which path, which timeline, what it'll take.

  5. 5. Accountability.

Sometimes the value is just that someone is expecting pages.

Want to move faster?

Monthly coaching works at the pace of life, which is the right pace for most people. But some writers have a deadline, a window of open time, or a manuscript that's close enough that a concentrated push would finish it.

That's what the 90-Day Accelerator is for. A focused stretch with more structure and more contact than monthly coaching, built to get a specific project across a specific finish line.

FAQ

How long do most people stay?

It varies a lot. Some writers work with me for 3 months to get through a specific problem. Others stay a year through a full manuscript and into publishing. It's month to month, so you decide as you go.

What if my manuscript isn't ready?

Then that's what we work on, and we'll both know where it stands after the first session. I'd rather tell you the truth early than let you spend a year on something that needs restructuring.

Do you only work on children's books?

Children's books, middle grade, devotionals, and Bible studies are where I'm strongest, since that's what I've published. If your project is somewhere else, book a call and I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right fit.

What if I'm not sure I'm a real writer?

Almost everyone I work with has thought this. It isn't a qualification question, it's a fear question. Book the call.

Do you guarantee I'll get published?

No, and be wary of anyone who does. What I can do is make the book better and tell you honestly what your realistic options are.

30 minutes, free, no pitch.

Tell me about your book and where you're stuck. I'll tell you what I think you need, even if it isn't me.
