I've published 17 books. I know exactly where you're stuck, because I've been stuck in all of those places myself.
Here's what usually happens.
You research publishing for about 3 hours and come away more confused than when you started. Traditional, hybrid, self, vanity, and half the advice online is written by people trying to sell you something. You find a company that'll do it all for $8,000 and something about it feels off, but you can't tell what. So you close the tab and the manuscript goes back in the drawer for another 8 months.
Meanwhile there's a kid somewhere who would have loved that book.
Why Hypurpley Exists
I started Hypurpley Publishing because Christian children's publishing has a quality problem and a gatekeeping problem at the same time.
There are beautiful, biblically solid manuscripts sitting unpublished because their authors couldn't crack the industry. There are also books on shelves right now that talk down to kids, hand them a moral so tidy it's insulting, and treat "Christian" as a substitute for "good."
I want to fix both. That means helping Christian authors — writers with a biblical worldview who care about discipleship — publish books that are genuinely well-crafted and genuinely biblical, and being honest with them about what their manuscript needs before it's ready.

17 published books. Picture books, board books, chapter books, devotionals, Bible studies, workbooks, and card decks. I've made most of the mistakes available in this industry and I'll tell you which ones to skip.
A teaching background. I taught before I wrote, which means I can tell you why a page isn't working, not just that something feels off. Vague feedback helps nobody.
Golden Scroll Awards, Christian Market Book Awards, Christlit Awards, a Selah award. Not because awards matter much, but because it means somebody outside my own house has checked the work.
I'll tell you the truth. If your manuscript isn't ready, I'll say so and tell you what would make it ready. That's more useful than encouragement and considerably rarer.
The Hypurpley Standard
Every book that goes out under this name has to clear 3 bars.
- 1. Kids would actually choose it. Not tolerate it. Choose it.
- 2. It's biblically sound, without being preachy enough to close the deal on a child's interest in faith.
- 3. It respects the reader. Children can handle real stakes, hard questions, and characters who mess up. Books that pretend otherwise get put down.
