May Book Club

I can’t believe we are already starting May! This year is flying by way too fast, it seems. I’m still getting used to writing 2024. How about you?

May is Mothers Day, blooming flowers, graduations, and anticipation of summer. May brings warmth and sunshine, and maybe a few storms. But it seems everything is buzzing with life and expectation.

For our book club this month, we will focus on some of these themes. With each one, think about and talk about the fingerprints of God in His creation and in the books.

Finally, remember, we are getting ready for our summer Bible memory challenge starting in June. We’ll be memorizing Proverbs 31 this summer.

Chapter Books and Novels:

The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame

This is appropriate for 5-11 year olds. A classic story for children starting to read chapter books and shorter novels.

Code of Silence by Tim Shoemaker

We chose this book because it is fantastic novel that will keep your kids on the edge of their seats, but at the core of what it teaches is respect for the truth and for parents. This is a novel appropriate for 9-12 year olds.

For Parents:

Parenting with Hope by Melissa B. Kruger

This book came out in April, so I have not read it yet, but I love Melissa Kruger’s writing, and this looks like a much-needed book for today’s parent.
